This advert was produced (or made) in 1955.The first close-study product for Advertising and Marketing is the 1955 advert for OMO washing powder that appeared in Woman's Own magazine. 2) How were women represented in most adverts in the 1950s? Women were represented as housewives and stay at home mums who dress for no occasions and always look good for their husband. This advert makes women seem as if they enjoy cleaning and even have to be overdressed for it. For example the smile on the woman's face denotes enjoyment and connotes excitement as what she is currently doing. In those days women were not able to work. Only men had to work so they can earn money to keep the family living.
