Doctor Who: Language and Representation blog tasks

  1) Write a summary of the notes from our in-class analysis of the episode. You can use your own notes from the screening in class and we'll also post a Google document of class notes too (you'll need your GHS Google login).  a) The camera work in the episode is shaky and  not professionally done.The quality wasn't the best however it was good considering the episode was filmed in 1961. Good sound production for the TARDIS and for the introduction of the episode. b)  Settings- Inside the TARDIS , the school classrooms and hallway, the junkyard where the TARDIS is located. Lighting- The TARDIS was bright white (sci-fi connotation). Also contrasts with the shadows outside the TARDIS (binary opposition). c) The opening title sequence like a rocket taking off-sci-fi genre (links to space race). Levi-strauss -binary opposition. Advertising case study 3: Represent NHS Blood campaign

1) What does BAME stand for? Black,Asian and Minority Ethnic. 2) Why is there a need for blood in the BAME community? People that are apart of the BAME community have special blood for certain diseases that only people that are Black,Asian and Minority Ethnic. 3) What does this advert want people to do once they've seen it (the 'call to action')? They are  encouraging people that are apart of the BAME community to donate blood because there are only 3% og blood donors that are Black or Asian. 4) Why have the producers chosen famous BAME celebrities to feature in the advert? Give an example of three well-known people who appear in the advert and why they are famous - make sure you  write their names and spell them accurately . They have used famous BAME celebrities to show that anyone can donate and that even the celebrities donate.
