  Audience and Industry: blog tasks Audience 1) Who is the target audience for Doctor Who? Has it changed since 1963? The target audience is people who enjoy science fiction and some sci-fi. Its target audience hasn't changed. 2) What audience pleasures are offered by Doctor Who - An Unearthly Child? Apply Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory to the episode. Make sure you provide specific examples from the episode to support your ideas. Personal Identity: Some people may relate to Susan because shes a school student. Personal Relationships: People could relate to Susan's relationship with her grandfather (Doctor Who). Diversion (Escapism): The escapism is the TARDIS because we don't have anything like the TARDIS.   1) Write an analysis of the episode - using notes from the screening in class.  Make specific, detailed reference to moments in the text using media terminology (e.g. media language - camera shots and movement, editing, diegetic/non-diegetic sound, mise-en-scene etc.) Sound,camerawork and editing. Editing: They have fast paced editing throughout the whole episode, they also use CGI for the witches and the daemons etc. Camera Angle: They utilise High angle shots and Low angle shots to either signify weakness or strength.  Sound: Non-diegetic music and VO(voice over).Epic music,also diegetic sound of the waves on the beach (reminds us of fantasy). Mise-en-scene (CLAMPS).
